About the Amador Sawmill & Mining Association

The Amador Sawmill and Mining Association [ASMA] is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization consisting of a group of enthusiastic volunteers dedicated to preserving the sawmill and mining history of the Sierra Foothills. We currently operate the historic Amador Sawmill and the Pokerville Mine at the Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, California for the public to enjoy. We also operate a Steam Yarding Donkey and a working Antique Machine shop Display at the Kennedy Gold Mine near Jackson, CA. We restore and maintain the antique engines, stamp mill, sawmill, and other machinery as working displays. The sawmill cuts timber for other non-profit historic museums who are in need of authentic period-sawn lumber for reconstruction purposes. In addition, we have demonstrated our working steam logging donkey at other venues such as the Arnold Logging Jamboree. Our latest restoration project is a historic 1928 Fageol Truck.

Machinists, mechanics, engineers, steam enthusiasts, early gas engine, restoration buffs, mining and milling enthusiasts, and volunteers of all kinds are welcome and encouraged to join the ASMA. Contact us:
